Huawei has unveiled HarmonyOS 4, their latest self-reliant operating system, capable of functioning across a variety of distinct devices. What sets this version apart is its enhanced performance — it’s believed to operate 20% more efficiently and increase device battery life by an impressive 30%. Beyond these improvements, the OS has been infused with several new features that elevate its overall quality.

With this fresh update, users now have greater leeway to tailor and adjust their main screen to their liking. They can alter the system font within the menus and choose widgets to suit their personal tastes. Moreover, they can use personal photographs and pair them with a myriad of available patterns to create attractive wallpapers.

What’s more, HarmonyOS 4.0 introduces as many as 1,800 animated emojis, crafted especially for its users. These playful emojis aren’t restricted to messaging apps; they can also serve as wallpapers and be used for AOD (Always On Display) features on the home screen. Additionally, a handy feature known as Panorama Weather helps users to stay abreast of daily weather forecasts in real-time, with pinpoint accuracy.

Two particular aspects of HarmonyOS 4.0 that stand out are Live View and Moon Window. While Live View is tailored for smartphones and tablets, Moon Window finds its use in wearable gadgets. This works in a manner reminiscent of certain Apple devices, letting users glance at notifications or information without opening any apps.

HarmonyOS 4.0 also comes upgraded with an innovative feature dubbed Super Transit Station, acting as a novel hub for users to house different kinds of files. This upgrade is said to make file transfer between devices far more convenient than in prior versions. The scope of multi-screen sharing has been broadened too, integrating more seamlessly into HarmonyOS’s ecosystem, even within the infotainment system.

Further enriching the OS are enhanced search functions, allowing for a smarter experience. The voice assistant, Xiaoyi, now engages in more relaxed and casual interactions, aiding in note-taking and document handling. Safety hasn’t been neglected either, with a brand-new comprehensive application control center that is believed to maintain control over risky applications, safeguarding users’ genuine data, among other protective measures.

This comprehensive update to HarmonyOS 4.0 marks a significant step in Huawei’s ongoing effort to provide an increasingly responsive, user-friendly, and secure operating system. With a diverse range of features and improvements, it underscores the brand’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
